A wonderful little oasis in the middle of the old medina. A place where you can close your eyes and start to dream about "Alf laila wa-laila" (Thousand and One Nights). The rooms (I was able to experience three of them) are all individually lovely decorated. Patrick Lehmann Group Germany, Aug 2006
The Riad Ariha is a great place for a house party. Cool tranquil colours create an air of relaxation while Abdullah and the staff offer an excellent service – there when you want them, otherwise unobtrusive, quietly going about their business, and, at all times happy and tremendously helpful. We hired all five rooms for four days to celebrate a 50th Birthday party with eight other friends. It proved to be the perfect choice. It’s not the grandest of riad’s – it doesn’t pretend to be, and is all the better for it. It is clean, calm, wonderfully comfortable (we wanted to take our mattress home), and laid back. The rooms are nicely furnished and there are plenty of fresh flowers and candles around. For first time visitors, you’ll get all the advice you need from the staff, including guides and drivers – and do make good use of the hamman and massage service. We did! Breakfasts are simple, fresh and wholesome, while, if required the staff will prepare evening meals, again using fresh produce. They arranged a wonderful birthday feast for us on one night even contributing with a home made birthday cake. Highly recommended. June 5th, 2007 Rick Bond. Devon, England
Dear Barbara, Just to let you know that we had a very restful 11 days at the Riad Ariha. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, your staff were so accommodating and couldn't do enough for us. You are extremely fortunate to have hard working, loyal, local employees. In particular, the lady who manages your kitchen and cooks the lovely meals is a real treasure. The current owners, a Canadian couple entranced with Moroccan architecture, purchased the riad in 2003. The brother of one of the previous owners, Abdellatif Ait ben Abdellah, turned out to be a Moroccan with much experience in renovating riads in the medina along with the Belgian architect, Quentin Wilbaux. The two were instrumental in having the medina declared a UNESCO world heritage site. After seeing his work, they asked if he would like to do the renovation work and were referred to a pupil of his who carried out the restoration work. The basic layout was kept and a hammam and dome added. Since the riad is in the northern section of the medina, it is on higher ground which affords a beautiful view of the Atlas mountains in the distance.
